Gas Chromatography Fundamentals Workshop

Training Descriptions

Introduces the fundamentals of the Separation Process, and gas Chromatograph, along with the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.

Concept separation by Columns, Sample introduction, how sample typically introduce into the gas chromatographs, strengths, weaknesses, and best practice are covered as they pertain to packet column direct, hot split/ split less, programmed temperature split/ split less, and cool on column inlets.

Detectors, how the analyses of interest are detected. Basic detectors metric and nomenclature are presented, the characteristics and uses of the most popular detectors are described, including the FID, TCD, FPD, NPD, ECD, PID, ELCD, MSD, AED.

Carrier Gases secretion for Hydrogen, helium, Nitrogen and Argon/ Methane are used as carrier gases in gas chromatography.
It will discuss gas supply and handling, capillary columns; type of detectors, calibrations; sequences and reprocessing; method maintenance and retention time locking. This course also covers troubleshooting and maintenance.

Objective of Training

• Upon successful completion of the tutorial, trainee will help increased confidence and skills in using gas chromatographs.
• They will better understand how GC works, be more competent as detecting and diagnosing problems, and will be better at interpreting the quality of analytical results.
